| Multiple MVP's NEW YORK, NEW YORK – A number of Most Valuable Player awards were presented on this date; Ryne Sandberg (1984), Ken Caminitti (1996), Larry Walker (1997), Bob Welch (1990), Bob Gibson (1968). It's not unusual for winners to be repeaters. The leader of the pack is Barry Bonds, by far. Tainted MVP's or not, Bonds' 7 is more than twice as many as anyone else. Here's a list of the multiple winners: Barry Bonds (7) Major League Baseball's MVP award has been presented in each league since 1931. It is presented by the Baseball Writer's Association of America (BBWAA). It's officially known as the Kenesaw Mountain Landis award. Landis was MLB's first commissioner.
