CBS becomes an owner 

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - CBS took over 80% ownership in the New York Yankees on this date in 1964. It paid $11.2 million for the privilege. That much wouldn't pay for the restrooms in today's Yankee Stadium. According to Forbes.com, the Yankee franchise is worth over $1.8 Billion today.

All team valuations have skyrocketed over the decades. Despite the current economic conditions 28 of 30 teams icreased in value since 2011. Here's the value Forbes puts on each team as of March, 2012:
